Hamilton City Council is looking for patches of land to be turned into housing developments.
That means developers and landowners can now apply to create the city's first special housing areas.
The areas benefit from an accelerated resource consenting process, intended to get housing to the market faster.
Council has informal expressions of interest from at least six possible Hamilton sites, growth and planning manager Luke O'Dwyer said.
"The potential proposals could include anything from a smaller piece of land in an existing residential area to proposals which may be suitable for housing development on sites not currently zoned residential," a statement from O'Dwyer said ... Read more from the Stuff article
