Hamilton's Newest Park - Victoria on the River

31st Jan 18

The planning began back in 2009 when the site was first purchased, funding was allocated in 2015 and construction began last April.  As the Hamilton City Council resumed business after the Christmas break, one of the first events was to officially open Victoria on the River last Thursday.

Over 200 people attended the opening which included food carts, live entertainment and of course fantastic views of the Waikato river.

The central city park offers a place for shoppers, visitors, tourists and city workers to relax, unwind and socialise.  Due to its amphitheatre style, it also offers a unique inner city event location.

As part of the initial ten year plan for Hamilton, there is a proposal to further expand Victoria on the River further down Victoria Street.  "We have a chance to create something special and something lasting for future generations in the heart of Hamilton.  This is a beautiful space", commented Mayor Andrew King.

The Results are In - Who's the Fastest and Who's the Slowest?

You've got to move quickly in Invercargill if you want to buy a home.  Real estate in the southern-most city is among the fastest selling in the country, due to increased demand from first home buyers, real estate experts say. Of the 12 suburbs where houses spent the shortest time on the market last year, all but three had median property values of less than $500,000.  Invercargill dominated the list, with homes in four of the city's suburbs typically selling within 20 days or less.
